Designed by William F Crosby (who also designed the International Snipe dinghy) Skimmer was a flat scow type Classic Moth design without a cockpit.

A very early Moth design, published in The Rudder in 1933. According to Crosby, hundreds were built In the 1930’s across the USA.

After the influential article on the Skimmer in a 1932 edition of the US magazine “The Rudder”, the French started to build Skimmers which formed the beginning of the European Moth class. The european versions featured a cockpit.
